Kitchen tap in front of a window: check clearance before replacing it
A taller replacement tap may fit the sink hole perfectly and still stop the window opening. The overall height in a product listing is not enough: compare the moving sash, spout, lever and the space required by the particular tap design.

Measure where the window actually moves
Photograph the sink and window together and carefully check normal opening without pressing the sash against the existing tap. Record the distance between the tap position and the moving window components, including handles. Turning and tilting modes may follow different paths, so show the positions you need to use. Windowsill height alone may not describe the obstruction encountered during the complete opening movement.
Compare a dimensioned drawing, not a product silhouette
Obtain overall height, spout reach, lever location and the space needed to operate it. Even a low spout can obstruct the window when its base or handle falls in the opening path. Send the drawing for the exact model to the installer together with room measurements. Matching the mounting hole does not confirm that the window will open or that the lever will remain comfortable to use.
A folding tap needs a complete compatibility check
Some taps are specifically designed for installation in front of a window, with a body that can be moved aside or laid down as their instructions describe. A normal swivel spout does not make the entire tap foldable. Check the selected model’s remaining base height, where the lowered body will sit and the required hose movement beneath the sink. Without its product number and instructions, suitability for your window cannot be promised.
Discuss replacement in Rishon LeZion
Send Dima a wide sink-and-window view, the measurements, the proposed tap product number and photographs inside the sink cabinet. Identify shelves, a filter, a waste bin and access to shut-off valves. Agree compatibility, access and connection details before purchase and the visit. Mention any existing leak separately: repairing a fault and replacing a tap to improve window opening are different jobs that need their own assessment.
Manufacturer documentation
What to send the handyman
- Sink and window together, including required opening positions.
- Distances to moving window parts and handles.
- Exact product number and dimensioned tap drawing.
- Under-sink photographs, any leaks and your city.

Common questions
Will the lowest tap always solve the problem?
No. The base, spout or lever can still obstruct the sash. Consider the complete product within the actual opening path.
Does a swivelling spout mean the tap can fold down?
No. Moving the entire body requires a purpose-designed mechanism and the specific manufacturer procedure.
Can an installer guarantee clearance from a shop photo?
Actual window measurements, the product drawing and installation conditions are needed. A product image alone cannot establish the result.
