Shoe cabinet in a narrow hall: assembly and stability
A slim shoe cabinet saves space only if its sections open fully, the passage remains usable and the unit is stable.
Measure more than the wall width
Check the cabinet depth with a section open, the remaining walkway and the swing of the entrance door. Look for skirting boards, outlets and projecting door trim. Bring the boxes and parts into the apartment before scheduling assembly so access problems become clear.
Assemble to the product instructions
Sort the supplied fittings and do not substitute similar-looking parts by guesswork. Tilt-out sections need their mechanisms aligned. A sloping floor can affect the finished unit; an improvised shim is not automatically an acceptable alternative to the manufacturer solution.
Plan stability and wall fixing
Tall or shallow furniture deserves a stability check. Where the manufacturer requires anti-tip fixing, choose it for the actual wall material. In a rental, agree on drilling with the owner beforehand. Avoid overloading open sections or using them as a handhold.
