Planning and installation · Practical guide

Two mirrors side by side: agree the gap and alignment first

A pair of mirrors needs a shared layout rather than two identical marks on the wall. Similar-looking products can have different hanging points. Before drilling, agree which visual line matters and how much clear space will remain between the frames.

Choose the line that defines the pair

Decide whether the top edges, bottom edges or centres should align. Where frame sizes differ, all three may not line up at once. Show the installer both products and neighbouring furniture, not only the dimensions on the order. Photograph the front and back of each mirror from a safe position. Do not stand heavy glass without protection or lean the mirrors against each other while attempting a full-size floor arrangement.

Test the gap with lightweight paper outlines

Mark the outside frame dimensions using paper templates and view them from the entrance and the normal use position. Include frame projections and nearby switches, doors or cupboards. Compare the desired visual gap with access during installation and the movement required for later removal. Do not copy a minimum spacing from someone else’s photograph: frames and hanging systems have different geometry. Paper outlines establish the composition but do not yet establish the drilling locations.

Measure each product’s actual hanging points

Send the installer the positions and construction of the original fittings on both mirrors. Identical outside dimensions do not guarantee the same offset to a hanger. Do not transfer the first mirror’s drilling marks to the second without checking. Select the attachment method for each item using its instructions, weight and the actual wall. If a mirror has lighting, agree its electrical connection separately with a licensed electrician rather than assuming it is included in ordinary hanging.

Prepare mirror hanging in Holon with Dima

Send a wide wall view, both mirror sizes, fitting photographs and your preferred alignment line. Specify the proposed gap, known wall information and the route for safe handling. Mention removal of existing items or repairs to previous holes. Assess the pair as a whole: hanging, moving heavy mirrors and repairing finishes need separate agreement. Confirm the composition with the real frames before installation and avoid changing the hanging arrangements yourself afterwards.

What to send the handyman

  • Both frames and their original hanging fittings.
  • Actual dimensions and weight of each mirror.
  • Alignment line, proposed gap and paper outlines.
  • Wall details, obstructions, handling access and your city.

Common questions

Will two hooks set at the same height be enough?

No. The hangers may sit at different positions relative to their frames. Check each mirror individually.

Should the mirrors almost touch?

Not necessarily. Choose spacing using the composition, frame geometry and fitting and removal access.

Can holes be marked before the mirrors arrive?

Limit early planning to outside outlines. Establish final fixing points from the actual original fittings.
