Heavy blackout curtains: will the existing rod support them
Replacing sheer curtains with heavy blackout fabric can make the rod sag. The load changes across the whole system.
What to check
Check the rod, supports, wall and fixings. Long spans may need an extra support specified by the manufacturer, but its position must not block moving rings.
Preparation and next steps
Send rod length and model, curtain weight and photos of every support. If brackets are pulling out, remove the load only if safe and arrange inspection. Strengthening one bracket cannot fix a weak rod or damaged wall.
